Custom Stone Fireplace Surrounds & Feature Walls in Toronto & the GTA
The modern fireplace is no longer just about a mantel and hearth. More homeowners are choosing floor-to-ceiling stone to create a strong focal point that reflects their personal style, adds character to the room, and is easy to maintain. Done properly, it is a look that will not go out of style.
However, this type of fireplace takes experience. An experienced stone specialist needs to pay close attention to details such as book matching, seam location, slab sizes, and how the pattern flows from one slab to the next. These are things you can only learn from years of working with different materials and seeing how they behave during fabrication and installation.
Recent Fireplace Projects We Installed
These are some of our own fireplace wall projects, photographed on site across Toronto and the GTA, including Vaughan, Burlington, Milton, Brampton, Aurora, Newmarket, Richmond Hill, Markham, Mississauga and Oakville. We don’t stage our job sites or make them look prettier than they really are. Some photos show a finished fireplace, while others show the work in progress, exactly as it looked on the day. We want you to see the real process, from the first layout and fabrication to the final installation. You can see how the panels are handled, how the seams and patterns are planned, and the level of care that goes into making everything line up properly.
No staged photos, no sugar-coating. Just our actual work, done by our own team.
Look Closely at the Details
Fireplace walls, surrounds and fireplace countertops have been part of our work since 2007. These are the details we look at first, before anything is cut.
Planning the Veining
Book matching is easy to talk about, but getting it right takes time, experience, and careful planning. Both the fabricator and installation team need to understand how important the direction and pattern are before the stone is ever cut. Sometimes the direction makes all the difference. The right layout can create a beautiful, almost continuous flow across the wall, while the wrong direction can make the same stone look unbalanced or uncomfortable.
Over the years, we have seen both the good and the bad. That experience helps us make the right suggestions when it comes to layout, veining, seams, and installation. At the end of the day, your personal preference matters most. We can offer our experience and recommendations, but your style is always the priority.
Don’t Forget the Returns
A stunning fireplace is not just about the front. The return sides need the same attention to detail, and this is where you can really see the craftsmanship. The seams are especially important on the returns. With our quality quartz, granite, or porcelain slabs, we can create a layout where the veining flows naturally around the corner and the seam stays clean and hard to notice.
It is a small detail, but it makes a big difference. Not everyone pays the same attention to the returns, but we do.
The Details in Cutouts
A fireplace wall can have a lot going on behind the stone—fireplace opening, TV, soundbar, outlets, cable connections, and ventilation. They all need to be planned before the slab is cut. This is where experience really matters. Our stone specialists look at every opening together with the stone, the veining, and the overall layout. The goal is not simply to make a hole where something needs to go, but to make sure each opening works with the design.
A cutout is not just a hole in the stone. It is part of the finished design and needs to be properly positioned and sized. With years of fireplace fabrication and installation experience, we know how to guide you through these details.
Hearths, Mantels & Fireplace Ledges
Hearths and fireplace ledges may be smaller pieces, but they can be surprisingly challenging to fabricate and install. Knowing how different materials behave, how they should be cut, and how they need to be handled in a tight area all make a difference. A small piece still needs the same level of planning and precision as a large project. Sometimes, the smaller the area, the more attention it requires.
Great results often come down to the details, especially in the smallest spaces.

Different Application, Different Approach
A horizontal countertop is supported by cabinets. A vertical fireplace slab is different—the wall behind it becomes part of the support system. That is why you need a professional who understands both the material and the fireplace structure. A site visit is an important part of the process. It gives us a better understanding of how the stone should be installed, what support may be required, and what needs to be considered before fabrication.
We ask the right questions upfront, so the details are properly addressed before the stone reaches the wall.
Limitations Exist, We Work with Them
A fireplace wall has a few more things to consider than a regular countertop. The fireplace model, opening, required clearances, and ventilation all need to be understood by the stone fabricator. We will ask for the necessary information, review it with you, and plan the stone accordingly.
A little planning at the beginning can make a big difference. We will guide you through the process and make sure the finished wall looks the way you expected.
Starting Your Fireplace Project with Us
Before We Prepare Your Quote
Send us your plan, including the fireplace model, and a few photos of the room where the fireplace will be installed. We would also like to know a little about your style and what you are hoping to achieve. The more we understand about your space and your ideas, the better we can guide you on the stone, layout, and details for the next step.
We are not here just to cut a piece of stone and put it on the wall. We want to make sure the fireplace fits your home, works with the room, and looks like it belongs there.
Measuring & Templating
Once you decide to move forward, the next step is a home visit to take the actual measurements and template the area. We will spend some time with you during the visit to go over the details and answer any questions you may have. If there are things you are still unsure about, make a list and we can go through them together. We will share our experience and help you make the final decisions before we start fabrication.
The goal is to make sure everything is clear and properly planned.
What Affects Your Fireplace Wall Cost
The cost depends on the material, slab size, brand, fireplace size, and level of detail. If you have a budget in mind, let us know from the beginning. It helps us recommend the right material and options for your project. The details of the project also affect the cost. Mitered edges, recessed areas, returns, and multiple cutouts all require additional fabrication and installation work.
In general, the more detailed the design, the more time and work it takes to fabricate and install. We will go through the details with you, so you understand what is included and where the cost comes from. Share your ideas and budget with us. Our goal is to help you get the most value from your budget while creating a fireplace that fits your home and your style.
Let’s Plan Your Fireplace Project
Send us a few photos or a quick sketch of your fireplace framing. That’s usually enough for us to get a good idea of what you’re working with.
Common Questions About Fireplace Walls
Do You Subcontract the Job to Someone Else?
No, our own team handles the fabrication and installation from start to finish. Stonework requires training, knowledge, experience, skill, and attention to detail. We invest in training our crews, so they understand the material, the fabrication, and how everything needs to come together on site. For you, it means you are dealing with one team throughout the whole project. We know the stone, we know the job, and we know what was planned. If there is a question, you can come directly to us instead of being passed from one company to another.
We believe in investing in our own people because good work starts with a good team.
Can the Fireplace Wall Match a Countertop in the House?
Yes and no, it depends on the material.
A fireplace needs a material that is suitable for the heat and the specific application. A kitchen countertop has different requirements, such as being safe for food, resistant to stains, and able to handle everyday use.
If you want the fireplace and countertop to match, let us know. We can look at the material you have in mind and let you know if it is a good choice for both areas. If it is not, we can help you find a similar look that works well for the fireplace.
What Do You Need to Get Started?
A sketch, your plan, your ideas, or even just a few photos of the space are a good place to start. If you already have a budget in mind, feel free to share that with us too.
You don’t need to have everything figured out. Send us what you have, and we can help you work out the next step.
Can You Work Around a TV and Outlets?
Yes, absolutely. We work around TVs, outlets, media boxes, speakers, and all kinds of other openings on fireplace walls. This is a normal part of stone fabrication, and we know how to plan the cutouts, so they work with the overall stone layout. Just let us know what you need to fit into the wall, and we can help you work out the details before fabrication.
Where Do You Serve?
We work across Toronto and the GTA, including Etobicoke, North York, Scarborough, East York, Vaughan, Markham, Richmond Hill, Mississauga, Brampton, Oakville, Burlington, Milton, Pickering, Ajax, Whitby, Oshawa, Barrie, Guelph, Kitchener-Waterloo, Aurora, Newmarket, King City, Innisfil, and the surrounding communities.
