Caesarstone reaches GTA homeowners through three main routes: big-box stores, kitchen and cabinet showrooms, and stone fabricators. Stores and showrooms usually don’t cut or install the stone themselves. They sell you the countertop, then pass the measuring, fabrication and installation to a subcontractor. That handoff affects how your countertop turns out more than the choice of store does. It decides where the seams fall, how the sink fits, and who picks up the phone if something is off after installation.

This guide covers the buying routes, how to confirm you’re getting the exact slab you priced, and what to settle in writing before you pay a deposit.

Three ways to buy Caesarstone in the GTA

Where you buy Who measures, cuts and installs What to check
Big-box home improvement store (where Caesarstone is offered) Usually a subcontracted fabricator Which colours the store can actually order, who the installer is, and who handles problems after installation
Kitchen or cabinet showroom Usually a subcontracted fabricator That countertop templating is booked after the cabinets are installed and level, not taken from the cabinet drawings
Fabricator The fabricator’s own shop, and often its own crew Whether you can see the full slab, and whether the shop and the installers are the same company

You’ll also come across companies calling themselves Caesarstone distributors. A distributor brings slabs into the region and sells mostly to fabricators and dealers rather than homeowners. If a distributor quotes you an installed price, ask who will template, fabricate and install, because that work is being done by someone else.

One question sorts all of this out: if something is wrong after installation, which company fixes it? If the answer involves two companies, have each one’s responsibility written into the quote.

Confirm the slab you’re paying for

“Caesarstone, white, 3 cm” is not a specification. A quote you can hold someone to names:

  • The colour name and four-digit code. Caesarstone identifies every colour by number, and similar whites and marble-look patterns are easy to confuse.
  • The finish. Many colours come in more than one finish, such as polished or honed. Finish changes how the surface reads in your light and how readily fingerprints and marks show; matte finishes show them more.
  • The thickness. 2 cm and 3 cm slabs are priced differently and allow different edge details.
  • Quartz or porcelain. Caesarstone now makes porcelain slabs as well as quartz. The two are cut, edged and priced differently, so make sure every quote you compare is for the same material.

If your job needs more than one slab, ask for slabs from the same production batch. Colour and veining can shift slightly from batch to batch, and the difference shows up right at the seam.

Small samples help you narrow the choice, but they can’t show how a veined pattern moves across a full slab. Before committing to a veined colour, look at a full slab, or a photo of the actual slab, under both warm and cool light with one of your cabinet doors beside it. Our guide to seeing Caesarstone slabs in person near Toronto covers how to plan that visit.

What to settle before you pay a deposit

Deposits are normal; they reserve material and a templating date. What protects you is having these answers in writing before any money changes hands:

  • One scope, with names. The quote should say who templates, who fabricates, who delivers and who installs.
  • Sink model and mounting. Undermount, drop-in or integrated, with the model number. The cutout is made for one specific sink, and switching sinks after cutting means rework or a compromised fit.
  • Cooktop and faucet details. Cutout dimensions from the cooktop spec sheet, plus how many holes you need for the faucet, soap dispenser or water filter, and where they go.
  • Seam approval. When you’ll see the seam layout, and confirmation that fabrication won’t start until you’ve approved it.
  • Changes after templating. What can still change once measurements are taken, and how changes are priced.
  • What’s excluded. Removal and disposal of the old countertops, and disconnecting and reconnecting the sink, faucet and cooktop. Those reconnections are plumbing, gas or electrical work and are often outside a countertop quote.

Seams: where they go and when you approve them

A standard Caesarstone slab is roughly 120 inches long and 56 inches wide. A straight run longer than that needs a seam, and an island deeper than the slab is wide needs either a seam or a jumbo slab, if your colour is made in that size. Large L- and U-shaped layouts usually get seams as well, because cutting the whole shape from one piece wastes material and leaves a long, fragile piece to carry in.

A good layout keeps joints away from the sink and cooktop cutouts, where the stone is narrowest, and puts them over solid cabinet support.

With veined colours, seam placement becomes a design decision as much as a technical one. On a marble-look slab, the veining can often be carried across the joint, but only if the layout is planned before cutting. Waterfall islands work the same way: for the pattern to run over the mitred corner and down the side panel, the panel has to be cut from the same slab, right next to the top, which affects how much material you need. Our page on countertop edge profiles shows the waterfall and other edge options.

Ask to see the seam layout after templating, marked on a drawing or on photos of your slab, and approve it before fabrication starts. Install day is too late to find a seam you didn’t expect.

From measurement to installation

On a countertop job, the order of the steps matters more than the speed:

  1. Cabinets installed, fastened and level, including end panels and any island supports. If the cabinets shift after templating, the countertop won’t fit.
  2. Templating. The fabricator measures on site and confirms the sink, cooktop and faucet details.
  3. Layout and seam approval.
  4. Fabrication: cutting, edge profiling, cutouts and polishing.
  5. Installation and walk-through, with seams set and an undermount sink attached.

Condos

A condo install is largely a logistics job. Many buildings require an elevator booking, a certificate of insurance (COI) and WSIB clearance before a crew is allowed in, and some restrict working hours. The delivery path matters too: if a long piece can’t make the turn from the elevator into the hallway, the countertop needs a seam planned around it. That should be measured at templating, not discovered on install day.

Houses

In houses, the common issues are older cabinets that are out of level and need shimming before templating, and seating overhangs on islands. A longer overhang needs hidden steel or another form of support, and that support has to be planned before fabrication rather than improvised during installation.

Comparing Caesarstone quotes

Two quotes for the same kitchen can look far apart until you line up what each one includes. Check that every quote states:

  • the colour code, finish and thickness
  • how the material is priced: some shops price by the square foot, others by the slab, and either is fine as long as you compare like with like
  • the edge profile
  • each cutout, listed separately
  • the number of seams
  • any backsplash or full-height panels
  • delivery, installation, removal and disposal
  • access costs for condos or difficult stairs
  • whether HST is included or added

Comparing a slab-only price with an installed price tells you nothing. For how installed scope drives the final number, see Caesarstone countertop prices in Toronto, installed.

Two warranties, not one

Caesarstone’s product warranty comes from the manufacturer and covers the material, with its own terms and, in many cases, a registration step. The installer’s workmanship warranty covers the fabrication and installation: seams, cutouts and fit. Ask who registers the product warranty and which documents you should keep. Our workmanship warranty is 12 months and is written into the contract. To see how brand warranties compare, read which countertop brand has the best warranty in Canada.

Buying Caesarstone through Countertop Pro

We have been fabricating and installing countertops in the GTA since 2007, and Caesarstone is one of the brands we carry. Fabrication happens in our own shop at 103 The East Mall in Etobicoke, on CNC equipment, and our own crew does the installation. Templating notes, the seam layout and the install all stay with one company, and when you call after installation, you’re calling the people who did the work.

For condo projects, we provide the COI and WSIB documentation buildings ask for.

We work with homeowners, designers, contractors and builders across the GTA, and take on projects within a few hours’ drive of Etobicoke. You can start with a sketch, a drawing or a set of measurements. We’ll review it and send a quote, and templating confirms the final dimensions before anything is cut. You can see how a job moves through our shop on our in-house fabrication page.

Send your drawings or measurements for a Caesarstone quote, or call (416) 733-5555 to talk through your project.

Questions we often get about Caesarstone

Can I choose the exact slab, or only the colour?

For solid and lightly patterned colours, choosing the colour is usually enough, since slabs from one batch look alike. For bold veining, ask to see and reserve the actual slab, or at least a photo of it, because no two match exactly. Confirm what happens to the reservation if your project timing moves.

Should I choose 2 cm or 3 cm?

3 cm is the more common choice for kitchen countertops in the GTA. It is stiffer over spans and needs no build-up at the edge. 2 cm is lighter and often used for vanities, backsplashes and full-height panels; on a kitchen countertop it can be built up at the front edge with a mitred strip so it looks thicker. Thickness affects price, edge options and how much support an overhang needs, so settle it before you compare quotes.

Can you quote before measuring?

Yes. A drawing or a set of measurements, along with your sink and cooktop models, is enough for a working quote. Templating then confirms the final dimensions before anything is cut.

Is Caesarstone the right brand for my kitchen?

Caesarstone suits kitchens where you want consistent colour and a surface that doesn’t need sealing. Like all quartz, it can be damaged by direct heat from pots and pans, so keep trivets handy. If you’re still deciding between brands, our comparison of Vicostone and Caesarstone walks through the differences.
